HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif. — November 3, 2026. Republican State Senator Tony Strickland is seeking to continue representing California Senate District 36 in the November 3 election. He faces Democrat Chris Duncan, a former mayor of San Clemente. Strickland’s legislative district office is in Huntington Beach, where he previously served in local government.
Huntington Beach and Sacramento
The California Senate’s official directory identifies Strickland as the district’s incumbent senator and lists his Huntington Beach office. He serves on committees covering business, transportation, labor and utilities, making the seat relevant to coastal transit, employers and everyday costs. His campaign discusses government spending, the cost of living and public safety. Those positions are attributed to the campaign, not an editorial recommendation.
Two different city backgrounds
Strickland previously worked in Huntington Beach city government, while Duncan served on the San Clemente council. District 36 extends through coastal Orange County and into areas adjoining Los Angeles County, so neither candidate’s home-city biography tells the entire geographic story. The new term will cover all communities in the district.
Election Day photo and video evidence
Strickland publishes campaign material at stricklandforsenate.com. California58 has not verified a November 3 TikTok, Instagram or other post independently proving his personal ballot submission, polling location or voting time. No election-night winner is reported here.
